Say Hello to the Robots.

Welcome to 2023! Suffice to say, this is no longer the common man’s internet.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming everything. EVERYTHING. You don’t have to look far to see how AI is already impacting your day-to-day life. If you own a smartphone, use a tablet, search anything anywhere on the internet (yes, even on DuckDuckGo), you are contributing to a higher algorithm. The technologies of tomorrow start with the use of technology today.

As it relates to businesses and brands, jumping onto the AI bandwagon is the new “it” thing. Massive, seemingly overnight advancements in AI allow brands to be more effective than ever. This brings new and exciting ways of connecting with audiences, speeding up internal processes, and much more.

This might give you a better idea as to why Lord Elon loves AI more so than the average internet user. Just hop over to his Twitter account.

I, personally, am excited for the way AI is shaping our digital world – with restrictions. It’s difficult to know exactly how restrictive we can be without becoming a complete digital nomad, but the fact is, social media wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for AI. Many different aspects of social networks rely on technology. For example, if you use Twitter, you’ll notice that you receive recommended tweets and profiles that you might want to follow. Similar to how product recommendations work on Amazon, AI analyzes your behavior on the platform to find content that you might like. This helps them to make users spend more and more time on the platform, thus increasing their user engagement rate and experience.

Sounds scary, right? The Netflix documentary, The Social Dilemma, explores how exploitative of a growing dependence of social media can be. Go in with an iron stomach and open mind – but awareness that the damage done to our digital footprint has already taken place. AI in social media is projected to grow from $633 million in 2018 to more than $2.1 billion by 2023, according to estimates from Markets and Markets.

So how can we use AI on social media for good?

I firmly stand by my stance that these sites will ALWAYS value the human voice and personalized touch over AndrewAdams_123345 sending me an Instagram DM promoting his bogus AI “art”. Because AI learns from data, it can use data from social media audiences to accelerate revenue in a number of ways, such as:

  • Learn which headlines, words, and images in posts lead to the most engagement

  • Discover new audiences and trends based on sentiment analysis

  • Predict who will take action and buy more, then target them with social messages

AI can also be used to reduce costs across social media marketing activities, by making your work more efficient and automated. In fact, AI can:

  • Automate and scale the creation of content for social media

  • Automatically resize and reformat creative for different channels

  • Automatically target social media audiences with ads and regulate spend

Please enjoy these fun questions I asked ChatGPT to give you an idea of where AI is currently, and how we still hold more information and processing skills for the human connection than a machine-based learning program ever will.
